You make us rock
Each year we are humbled by the support of amazing volunteers who make our Global Grand Final run as smooth as is humanly possible. This year will be no different. That is why we are looking for you.
The entire 2020 edition will be hosted online and we have a variety of jobs to be done. To name a few: you could be working our social media channels, managing the virtual breakout rooms, moderating chats, facilitating Q&A sessions or helping out with general IT-related tasks.
We will manage the event from Delft, The Netherlands and we’re looking for volunteers that can join us there. With all that is going on in the world, we don’t want you to travel across borders, so you need to live or work in The Netherlands.
Available Tasks
Logistics: you work 2 days and the other day you are free to attend the event
1. Back-end IT help
You provide on-call help with any questions about logging in, the event platform functionalities, correct links to join the event, live stream issues, etc. People will be contacting you via email, live chat and/or WhatsApp.
2. Chat moderation & Information Desk
You moderate any chats during sessions such as main plenary, keynotes, breakout sessions, pitch sessions. You will also man the online general “information desk” to provide information on what’s going on, directing where to go, what session is at what time and refer people to IT-help when appropriate.
3. Room Boss for breakout rooms
You make sure the pitching rooms run smoothly by being a Zoom host. You are responsible for getting all the right people in the right room (start-ups, jury members, moderators). You also keep track of time, assist with muting/unmuting, make sure the jury and moderator have everything they need and you run general errands. This can be a bit of a hectic job at times, so call for help if you need it.
Social media: you need to be available to work on all days
4. Post on all of our social channels
Under supervision of our communications team, you are responsible for posting on our social channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). You will be assigned to a specific breakout room or the plenary sessions. We will prepare a list of social media posts to cover the entire event as well as a description for each pitching team in every pitching room. To create posts you take screenshots of the event and add those to the provided copy.
You will need to bring your own laptop and have Facebook, Twitter and Instagram apps installed on your phone. Make sure to bring chargers for your laptop and phone.
We also need 1 volunteer answering and moderating mentions and questions on our channels and responding to posts about the event.
